WHERE I COME FROM

Attorney Cedrick D. Wooten is a proud lifelong Memphian and a graduate of Melrose High School. Attorney Wooten has two Bachelor’s Degrees from LeMoyne-Owen College and a Master’s Degree from the University of Mississippi. Attorney Wooten received his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2005.

MY POLITICAL PATH

Before completing law school, Attorney Wooten had the distinct honor of clerking for the Honorable George H. Brown and the Honorable Jerry Stokes in the Shelby County Circuit Court, Division 6. He was an associate attorney at the Orange Law Firm until he opened HIS on law office in 2006. Attorney Wooten remained a senior partner at Humphrey & Wooten, PLLC, from 2006 until 2017 when he transitioned back to public service.  Since 2017 Attorney Wooten has served Shelby County in a number of capacities including Assistant District Attorney and Chief Administrative Officer to the  Shelby County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office. He currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Shelby County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.

MY COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Before practicing law, Attorney Wooten was a teacher for six years and served as an assistant principal for four years. Attorney Wooten is a member of the National Bar Association; the Tennessee Bar Association; the Memphis Bar Association, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.,

MY LIFE STORY

He is married to Sylvia Wooten, and they are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Ariel and Alexia. He is a member of the Mount Moriah East Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon, is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and a Prince Hall Mason, Charles F. Williams Lodge #86, as well as being a member of the National Bar Association and the Memphis Bar Association.

Attorney Wooten believes in giving back and mentors young people and remains active in his childhood neighborhood, Orange Mound, because he believes that people, especially children, need to see the dreams and possibilities they want to come true.
