Local Writer Promotes Early Reading for Kids!Looking for a great gift idea for your young ones? Local Memphian Ernie Robinson has the perfect gift for kids 3 to 7. What is it? His new book series is called Lou’s Books. Just in time for the holidays, Ernie has a Gift-Set of his first two books autographed and a special message for your kids inside. The #FunCrew of JustMyMemphis sat down with Ernie to talk about his books and the importance of reading for young children in our community!
Married for 45 years, Robinson is the father of two very accomplished children with 4 grandchildren, ages 4-10 years. These grandkids are the source of material in his two Children’s books, “Lou’s Blues,” published in 2021, and “Nat and Lou Go To The Zoo” published in 2022. These are the first two in his planned basal readers for small children, similar to the Dick and Jane series that was widely used throughout the U.S. in the mid-20th century.
His overarching motivation for writing children’s books is to motivate and encourage K-3 children to understand and love the magic of reading, regardless of their circumstances.
Here at the Memphis Urban League, we have a passion for promoting LOCALS from our community who are raising the bar for the kids of our community. We encourage you to give a gift from a LOCAL member of our community to help the youngest members of our community. Order your gift set today on the Little Lou’s Books Website!
