In light of the recent traumatic events, on behalf of the Memphis Urban League, we want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families affected by such atrocious acts of violence. We, along with other local agencies and organizations support the need for serious conversations, and the greater needed advocacy for legislation surrounding mental illness and the associated healthcare…especially in our African American communities. We are additionally supporting our local law enforcement agencies, MPD, SCSO and TBI, and applaud their rapid response to enforce a “Shelter-In-Place” alert that quite possibly saved many other lives during this recent violent spree that tread across our beloved city.

Our city is now on high alert due to these recent incidents we have witnessed over this past week. The Memphis Urban League wants to encourage you and affirm that we are supporting Memphis and its citizens and will keep all in our prayers for calm, comfort and protection.
