A Season of Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Message from the Memphis Urban LeagueAs we approach this Thanksgiving season, the Memphis Urban League would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Black Community of Memphis. This year, like many others, has presented its share of challenges. Yet, it’s during these difficult times that the power of community, resilience, and gratitude truly shines.
The Bible offers numerous passages that encourage us to give thanks in all circumstances. For instance, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 urges us to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. Similarly, Philippians 4:6-7 advises us not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. These verses remind us that even in the most difficult times, we can find reasons to be thankful.
This year, we are particularly thankful for the tremendous success of our first Save Our Sons 5k. The event was a testament to the strength and unity of our community, and we are deeply grateful for your support. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our dedicated team members who have made this year one of our best years ever.
As we celebrate this Thanksgiving, let’s remember to give thanks in all circumstances, to appreciate the good in our lives, and to find the silver lining in our challenges. Let’s use this time to come together as a community, to celebrate our culture and history, and to express our gratitude to those around us. As we do so, we will find that even in the hardest of times, there is always something to be thankful for.
On behalf of the Memphis Urban League, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to serving our community in the coming year and beyond. Happy Thanksgiving!
